50 years ago (1963)
The senior winner in this year’s district Make-It-With-Wool Contest was Mary Sisson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Sisson, 3630 Federal Ave. She was attending Everett Junior College, majoring in general education. Her winning outfit was navy wool, and she also made a pillbox hat trimmed with grosgrain ribbon and white leather. Accessories were candy apple patent.
Pvt. Gordon Peterson, son of Mrs. Dagny Peterson, 120 Mukilteo Blvd., Everett, was enrolled in the U.S. Army Signal School at Fort Monmouth, N.J., for 28 weeks of training as a radio technician.
25 years ago (1988)
University of Puget Sound students Lisbeth Lyons and J. William Finley, both of Everett, were among 42 participants nationwide in a study-abroad program in Bregenze, Austria, conducted through Wagner College of Staten Island, N.Y.
Other local young people were realizing accomplishments. Pat Rogers, of Everett, and Rick MacDermid, of Lynnwood, were members of the Central Washington University Chamber Choir, which recently performed in Yakima. Lisa Lomes of Snohomish had graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle with an associate degree in applied art.
