50 years ago (1963)
Boyd Devin, Everett Junior College speech instructor and director of “Antigone,” a classic Greek tragedy to be performed by the drama department, talked about a model of the set that had been constructed in new classes at the college.
Cascade High School’s high drama offering this fall was “The Member of the Wedding,” by Carson McCullers. Among the players were Georgina Davisk, who played Berenice Sadee Brown, Lynne Prett as Frankie Addams and Tony Fabello, of Madison School, as John Henry West. Gayle Six was the drama director.
25 years ago (1988)
Everett fifth-grader Zach Owenby was starring in his third television appearance in connection with his involvement in a Jackson Elementary and Evergreen Middle School project restoring a salmon run to Pigeon Creek. Before last fall, no salmon had returned to the creek in two decades.
Part of High Bridge Road south of Monroe would be closed intermittently over the next few days during a bridge repair project. The road, also known as the Cathcart-Snoqualmie River Road, would be closed up to two hours at a time between Highway 522 and Ricci Road.
