Dave Williams and Rufus Ross were among many participants in a hootenanny a the Everett YMCA this coming Saturday. Sponsored by Y clubs, it would feature performers from Everett and Cascade high schools, Everett Junior College and Seattle.
The old Silvana school now operated as an Opportunity School for special-needs children would be the scene of a public carnival. Among those working to make the fundraiser a success were Patricia Drier, of Arlington, and Charlotte Rusko, of Silvana.
25 years ago (1988)
Geoff Bennett, Everett High School social studies teacher, said that we lived on a shrinking planet and thought it was important that students knew where places in the world were. He and other teachers were making geographical awareness one of the year’s top priorities at the school.
A task force of students, instructors and other employees at Edmonds Community College recommended that the board of trustees spend up to $55,0000 to accommodate campus smokers. The trustees had been wrestling with a new smoking policy for the campus in light of Gov. Gardner’s executive order banning smoking inside state buildings.
