Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)

Soon to complete her summer trip to Europe was Darlene Storkson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Storkson, 6532 Beverly Blvd., who left Vancouver, B.C., on June 14 to fly to Amsterdam. In Paris she rented a car to travel throughout France and Germany. She went on to tour Switzerland, the Riviera, Austria, Italy and Scandinavia.

Spending the summer at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival in Ashland, Ore., was Jeff Craggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Craggs Jr., of Granite Falls. Jeff was a senior majoring in speech at Washington State University where he had played the roustabout in “J.B.” and Macbeth in the Reader’s Theater.

25 years ago (1988)

Police officers and clergy gathered today in Everett to honor the late Rev. Sam Neufeldt, one of the founding members of the Everett Police Department’s chaplains’ bureau. Neufeldt served as the bureau’s first administrator when it was formed in 1974.

Kelly Robinson, Snohomish city manager, wanted to see the number of households that recycled increase and the garbage sent to landfills decrease. To do that, Robinson told the City Council that he wanted to apply for county and state grants to promote recycling.
