The grand opening of the Starlight Room in the Bel-Nes Café was scheduled for next week. With seating for 76, it was a new addition to the restaurant and could be accessed from either Hewitt or Hoyt avenues.
Jim Wescott, 14, son of Mrs. R.J. Wescott of Everett, who was to attend school in Zurich, Switzerland this year, was honored with a small luncheon at Everett Golf and Country Club yesterday. In Zurich he would stay with the Earl Andertons, former Everett residents.
25 years ago (1988)
Carolyn Meagher of the Everett School District said 25 people had applied for the board position that opened after the sudden death Robert Daoust. They were Patrick Reams, Clint Kelly, John Hafstrom, Scott Bradbury, Steve Hanson, Dale Perry, Kelvin Barton, Richard James, Greg Moore, Dave Kurtz, Scott Bader, Kim Blunt, Jill Hanson, Peter Norris, William Postle, Richard Reitz, Gwinn Dunham, Michael Crehan, Mark Brenaman, Roy Yates, Sandra DeLisle, Tom Gish, Cheryl Hawes. R. Lavor Cardon and Carol Williams.
J.K.Gill was having back-to-school sales at its outlets in downtown Everett, Everett Mall and Alderwood Mall. There 99 cent sales on dictionaries, paint brushes, crayons, and packs of pens.
