50 years ago (1963)
Everett commissioners voted to reappoint A.W. Miley to another term on the board of directors of the Everett Housing Authority. His reappointment was made by Mayor George Gebert and confirmed by the council.
Ron Goetz offered undeniable proof of a successful trip to Westport; 14 silvers and three kings. He was accompanied by his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Guilford Russell. The biggest king brought back by the quartet was a 23-pounder. The silvers ran up to 18 pounds.
25 years ago (1988)
Long hours of preparation by a group of hard-working volunteers and a genuine interest in her work paid off with honors for Lynda Dunning, superintendent of the open class needle arts department at the Evergreen State Fair. The popular display earned the coveted Washington State Fairs Commission black and white rosette.
At Nendel’s Motor Inn, 2800 Pacific Ave., for two days only, unclaimed school orders Necchi 522 Sew N’ Serge sewing machines were on sale. The manufacturer’s price was $429, but smart shoppers could have them for $188. Checks and seven different cards were accepted.
