50 years ago (1964)
Tillicum Council No. 35, Degree of Pocahontas, in a joint ceremony with Tulalip Council No. 11, put on by Ruby Gourley and her escort team, installed the following as officers: Bea Richards, Pearl Newman, Lillian Olvier, Elsie Loth, Martha Scribner, Nettie Squires, rosy Hays, Ester Bosket.
Albert Langley, son of Mrs. Marie Langley, Rt. 2 Everett, had completed basic training in the Army at Ford Ord, Calif., and assigned for further training in Missouri in the heavy construction field.
25 years ago (1989)
Real grass, real rain, real baseball, real FANatics. Debbie Oltman and Anita Olson stuck it out through all nine innings of the Everett Giants/Bellingham Mariners here. At one point the game was delayed for 41 minutes due the downpour, but Oltman said it was worth it because the Giants won.
Things got a little wacky for a moment at the pet show in Marysville. Holly Rainer tugged on the leash of Cringle, a spaniel that had a nose for the competition — mainly Pepper the cat, minding its own business with owner Jody Hendrickson. Jamie Brevik and gerbil Princess looked on.
