Shelton woman who was shot at door dies of wound

SHELTON — A Shelton woman who was shot early Wednesday when she answered a knock at her door died over the weekend at an Olympia hospital.

The sheriff’s office said deputies are looking for a man who fled the home.

Chief Deputy Dean Byrd said investigators determined that initial reports of two suspects were incorrect and they’re looking for only one man.

Byrd said the motive for the shooting is unknown. Two other people in the house at the time of the shooting barricaded themselves inside for safety. He said they were not able to provide much information.

The dead woman is identified as 30-year-old Barbara Michelle Giles of Shelton.
