SPOKANE — The Spokane County sheriff’s office said it came across nearly two dozen Civil War and World War I-era documents during a recent investigation. Now it wants to find the owners.
Deputy Craig Chamberlin said the documents include photographs and letters dated as early as 1863.
Chamberlin said officers believe the documents were stolen and the owners may not be aware they are missing.
Anyone seeking to claim the documents will be asked to provide proof of ownership.
