Silvertips benefit

Everett Silvertips host their first “Tip a ‘Tip Night” Wednesday in Mill Creek.

It’s planned for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Boston’s, 15310 Main St. in Mill Creek. It benefits the Everett Boys &Girls Club.

The hockey team will ace at hosts, servers, doormen and emcees. A raffle is planned with game-used equipment and signed paraphernalia. Boston’s also will be donating prizes to add to the fundraising efforts.

Associate head coach Jay Varady and assistant coach Chris Hartsburg will be on hand in the Boston’s Lounge. Share an appetizer and say hello to the Silvertips hockey staff in between autographs and photos.

Comment on UW search: The public can attend and make comments at a forum from 5:30 to 7 tonight held by the University of Washington presidential search advisory committee.

Members of the committee will meet in the Rainier Room of Providence Regional Medical Center, 1330 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett.

The university is trying to find a new president by the beginning of 2011-12 school year to replace former President Mark Emmert, who left the school Oct. 1 to become president of the NCAA.

Sno-Isle Libraries Board spot open: Snohomish County residents who want to help public libraries can apply for an open position on the Sno-Isle Libraries Board of Trustees.

Applications are due by Friday and are available online at www.sno-isle.org. A job description is also posted on the website.

The open position is a seven-year term and may be renewed for one additional seven-year term.
