The 20th annual Sky Valley Community Awards Celebration was held Feb. 17 in Sultan, honoring volunteers from a variety of civic and nonprofit groups in Sultan, Gold Bar, Index and Skykomish.
Citizen of the Year honors went to Kevin Weiderstrom, of Skykomish, a history and train buff who serves on the town council and the Skykomish Historical Society, which has called him the “volunteer of the decade.”

Gold Bar Royalty Queen of Queens: Alexis Perdomo
Sky Valley Arts Council Supporters of the Year: Rick Cross, Dick King and Mark Hopkins
Sky Valley Historical Society Lifetime Contribution Award: Joy Rutherford
Operation Sky Valley Volunteer of the Year: Christina Landis
Volunteers of America Sky Valley Volunteer of the Year: Tracy VanHee
Sky Valley VOA Senior Center Volunteer of the Year: Marlene Carlson
