SEATTLE — A Mountain View Fire and Rescue spokesman says a pilot has been seriously injured after his plane crashed upside down near a Covington airport today, narrowly missing a house.
Tim Perciful says the pilot was airlifted from the crash site to Harborview Medical Center after three bystanders helped stabilize his head. He says the bystanders also shut off a master and fuel switch, possibly preventing a fire.
One witness tells authorities he saw the plane flying sideways before it ran into trees and hit the ground.
Authorities say no one on the ground was hurt and there was no damage to nearby homes.
Perciful says there is no word yet on the cause of the crash and federal investigators have visited the site.
