MOUNT VERNON — The son of a woman missing since Oct. 2 on Sauk Mountain in the North Cascades is continuing the search.

Alan Patterson collected donations through a Facebook page to hire a helicopter.

KOMO News reported a helicopter from Darrington flew Patterson and four friends Thursday to the mountain.

The Skagit Valley Herald reported the Skagit County sheriff’s office also is searching Thursday, using a cadaver dog.

Patricia Krieger separated from a group that had scattered the ashes of her boyfriend’s parents on the 5,500-foot mountain.

The 65-year-old Mount Vernon woman was with her dog, a Rottweiler named Bear. It turned up Oct. 27 in Rockport. Snow last weekend prevented searchers from returning with the dog to the mountain.
