SPOKANE — Court documents say a young mother who led her children into Spokane traffic, leading to the death of one, has tested positive for methamphetamine use.
The documents say hospital tests came back positive for meth in 25-year-old Sarah Burrows-Gust’s system. Police have seized blood samples to perform their own tests as they conduct a criminal investigation.
The Spokesman-Review says Burrows-Gust last Friday tried to cross a busy street in north Spokane with her 5-year-old daughter, 7-year-old son and a dog in tow.
A car traveling about 35 miles per hour down the busy street struck the pedestrians. Five-year-old Elayna Burrows-Gust was killed, while the other two suffered injuries.
