STANWOOD — Police are warning parents in Stanwood about a possible attempted child luring reported last week.
A man in a vehicle reportedly approached two young sisters as they were leaving the QFC store along 92nd Avenue NW about 7:30 p.m. Friday, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The man asked the girls, 13 and 6, if they wanted a ride home, and they said no. He then asked them for directions to the library.
The girls left the area, went home and immediately told their dad, who called 911, Ireton said.
“The girls totally did the right thing,” she said.
Police responded to the store and interviewed the man, Ireton said. There wasn’t enough evidence to make an arrest.
The school district also sent a letter home to parents this week warning about the incident. The sheriff’s office now thinks that the initial vehicle description may be in error.
