OLYMPIA — State Republican Party chairman Kirby Wilbur says he’s leaving his post to go work for a conservative outreach group in Washington, D.C.
Wilbur sent out an email Monday afternoon announcing that it was his last day as chairman and that he would be moving within the next few months to work with the Young America’s Foundation. He says he’s been offered a five-year contract “that I would be foolish not to accept.”
Wilbur was elected to his first term in January 2011, and was re-elected to a second term in January 2013. Vice-Chair Luanne VanWerven will serve as interim chair of the state party until an election takes place within the next three months.
