SULTAN — The City Council could soon recommend a site for a new Boys &Girls Club.
TCF Architecture of Tacoma is scheduled to share their findings on potential sites for the club during Thursday’s council meeting at 7 p.m. in the Sultan City Council Chambers, 319 Main Street.
The Sultan Boys &Girls Club was destroyed by fire on Dec. 24. Mayor Carolyn Eslick appointed a committee to work on site selection for a new building. The committee comprised of youths and adults has worked since June and initially recommended eight potential sites, including the old site at 705 First St. That site and four others were taken off the list after being analyzed by city staff, said Bob Martin, the city’s community development director. TCF Architecture was brought on by the city in September to analyze the remaining three sites.
The council will listen to a presentation by architects on Thursday, Martin said. The committee members are scheduled on Nov. 14 to review the three sites. A final recommendation from the committee is expected to be presented at the Nov. 22 council meeting.
“The council at that meeting or any subsequent meeting can make the city’s official determination of what the city determines to be the best recommendation,” Martin said.
When that decision is made it will be forwarded to The Boys &Girls Club of Snohomish County.
