MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A man suspected of shooting another man outside a gas station last month turned himself in Monday.
The Mountlake Terrace man, 39, was booked for investigation of first-degree assault.
The Aug. 19 confrontation started over a stalled vehicle at the gas station, according to court documents.
The victim told police the suspect was honking because the car was blocking an exit. He told the SUV driver the car was out of gas. That’s when the suspect reportedly backed over the victim’s foot.
The victim confronted the man and told police he hit the SUV driver a few times in the face, according to court papers. He said that’s when the man pulled a gun and fired at him. The shot missed and the victim ran. He was shot in the thigh as he was fleeing. A bullet also grazed his arm.
Detectives were able to determine that the suspect was driving a BMW SUV. Later, police received a tip from someone who identified the suspect. Officers served a warrant at his home.
