Three held after incident at Cascade High School

EVERETT — Three people were arrested after an altercation outside Cascade High School on Friday afternoon, according to Everett police.

Two non-students fought with at least one Cascade student, Everett School District spokeswoman Mary Waggoner said Sunday. That student suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization, according to officials.

Despite rumors of gunplay, no shots were fired during the fight, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said.

The three people arrested were booked into the Denney Youth Center, Snell said. He did not know Sunday whether any of them were Cascade students.

School staff, administration and Everett Police responded immediately to the incident, principal Cathy Woods said in an email to Cascade families on Friday. Traffic was stopped on E. Casino Road outside the school during the police response, she said.

Woods said disciplinary action was taken. She did not elaborate.

School security and police presence will be beefed up this week at Cascade as the investigation continues, she said in the Friday email.

School officials are asking anyone with more information about the incident to contact them or police.

Officials would like to hear about social media postings regarding the incident. Any information may be reported on Monday to the police, to school staff, to the Cascade safety tip line at 425-385-5050 or to the principal at cwoods2@everettsd.org, Woods said.
