At least two local Applebee’s restaurants will feature some new wait staff members Thursday night.

As part of the “Tip-a-Cop” fundraiser, police officers and other law enforcement officials plan to play the role of “celebrity waiters” at the chain restaurant’s locations in Everett and Marysville.

Any tips they receive will go toward Special Olympics, said Andrea Hill, a program specialist with Marysville police.

Marysville officers and other police department employees will participate from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Applebee’s at 3702 88 St. NE in Marysville.

In Everett, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will participate from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Applebee’s at 806 SE Everett Mall Way. They will be joined by officers from Lake Stevens and possibly Bothell, a restaurant representative said Tuesday.

A bomb response truck also will be parked outside the Everett location from about 4 to 6 p.m. to drum up support for the event.
