Train strikes car, woman injured in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY — A Spokane County sheriff’s spokesman says a 49-year-old woman was injured Friday evening when a train hit and flipped her car at a crossing in Spokane Valley.

The Spokesman-Review reported that Deputy Craig Chamberlin said the crossing bars dropped onto the car as the woman approached the intersection, but she kept on going. The train ended up flipping the car onto its top next to the tracks.

The unidentified woman was taken to a hospital. She was alone in the vehicle.
