LYNNWOOD — Two people were injured early Thursday morning in a one-car crash near Lynnwood, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. at Cypress Way and 204th Street SW.

Their Toyota car was eastbound on 204th Street SW when it went through a stop sign, crossed the intersection and struck a power pole, sheriff’s office bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said.

The driver, a 28-year-old woman, and passenger, a 32-year-old man, were trapped inside the vehicle, Prentiss said. Both are from Kirkland.

Both sustained serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Prentiss said.

The sheriff’s office Collision Investigation Unit was called to the accident.

The cause of the accident is unknown, Prentiss said.

The Snohomish County PUD was called to handle downed power lines at the location.
