Two injured in Everett apartment blaze

EVERETT — Police and the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating an apartment fire Monday south of Everett that sent a man and woman to the hospital, officials said.

The fire occurred in a unit at the Hampton Court Apartments in the 11200 block of 9th Place W. It was reported around 12:15 p.m., Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.

The man and woman, described as being in their mid-30s, were listed in serious condition when they were being treated by paramedics, Hynes said. They were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

It was not immediately clear what their injuries were, she said.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office was working with an investigator from the county fire marshal’s office Monday afternoon.

The fire was contained to a single unit, Hynes said.

“We had around 20 firefighters and had the fire under control within 20 minutes,” Hynes said.

Damage was estimated at $40,000.
