KENT — A King County sheriff’s spokeswoman says two male high school students accused of showing off a handgun to other students have been detained.
Sgt. Cindi West says deputies responded Tuesday after a call from Kentlake High School officials. Deputies found that a 16-year-old with a gun in his backpack reportedly got the weapon from a 17-year-old. West says the 17-year-old told officers he took the gun from his aunt’s house in Eastern Washington — without her knowledge — when he visited recently.
The spokeswoman says there were no reports of threats.
Kent School District spokesperson Chris Loftis tells KING-TV that multiple students told school officials about the loaded gun.
