The nuclear aircraft carrier USS Nimitz pulled away Monday from its pier in Everett.

The warship is headed south for a training run to San Diego and a stop in the San Francisco Bay for the 75th anniversary of the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The nearly 3,000-member crew of the Nimitz is set to return to Everett sometime in May. People can follow the progress of the Nimitz on Facebook at

The Nimitz pulled into Everett in March, its first docking as the centerpiece of Naval Station Everett.
