VANCOUVER, Wash. — A woman who was pulled from her burning apartment in Vancouver has died at a Portland hospital.
Police were first on the scene early Sunday and kicked in the front door.
Sgt. Jon Pfister told The Columbian they were driven back by heavy smoke but made a second attempt and were able to pull the woman outside. The officers weren’t hurt.
She was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland where she died.
Fire Battalion Chief Dave Seabrook said two apartments were ruined and two were damaged with the loss estimated at $150,000. The Red Cross is helping displaced residents.
