The Island County Sheriff’s Office is urging people to lock their car doors after a spate of vehicle prowls on the south end of Whidbey Island.
Thirteen thefts have been reported since Oct. 25, officials said.
It appears as if the thief or thieves are parking near the crime scenes and loading stolen goods into a vehicle, officials said.
Most of the vehicles were left unlocked. The crimes typically occur in the early morning.
Deputies offered several tips, including locking car doors, maintaining a list of serial numbers of valuables and immediately reporting to 911 any suspicious vehicles parked in neighborhoods.
