Twenty-five volunteers on April 29 planted over 100 trees and shrubs along Portage Creek at the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Park in Arlington. The event, in honor of Arbor Day, was led by natural resources manager Bill Blake, who has organized several such events over the years. This one also marked his last day with the city; Blake took a job as manager at the Skagit Conservation District.
