OLYMPIA — Washington senators are honoring their late colleague Scott White, who died in October at 41.
Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown said during floor discussion Friday that she has thought about White every day since his death and what the Democrat would have brought to the legislative process. She says there is a sense of loss wondering about the contributions he would have made. Republican Senate Leader Mike Hewitt says it was clear White was on track to be a leader.
The chamber approved a resolution honoring White, and his young daughter Claire helped bang the gavel to conclude voting.
Authorities say White died as the result of a cardiac problem linked to an undiagnosed enlarged heart. He was found dead in a hotel room at a resort near Cle Elum, where he was attending a conference.
