As we reported on Wednesday, police arrested a man in Everett they say eluded a Washington State Patrol car on I-5 and who later was clocked at 147 mph by a WSP airplane the morning of July 4. On Friday, the State Patrol’s InsideOut blog posted video shot from the plane, and it is something to behold.
The motorcyclist’s fastest speed apparently was measured on southbound Highway 529 between Marysville and Everett, while crossing the bridges over the Snohomish River. The man was followed by the patrol’s Aviation Unit to a house in north Everett, where he was arrested by WSP and Everett police — thanks to the helpful direction of the airborne troopers.
We wrote about the State Patrol’s use of airplanes to catch speeders in 2014. The planes are equipped with sophisticated video cameras and infrared radar. If they happen to be overhead, it seems unlikely you will get far before being caught.
