We’re on a hot streak with several days of sunny skies

EVERETT— Not to jinx it, but it looks like another sunny weekend is on tap.

That would be at least two in a row.

It’s been sunny skies every day since the Fourth of July — other than a middle-of-the-night thunderstorm and low-lying fog early in the morning.

While there’s a 30 percent chance for a thunderstorm today through Saturday, forecasters are predicting mainly sunny skies with a few clouds at least through Thursday.

While the big orange orb is in the sky, people are venturing out to enjoy it.

On Thursday, dozens of kids and their parents crowded Thornton A. Sullivan Park to soak in the sun and splash around in Silver Lake.

Leticia Conklin and her daughters, Araceli, 3, and Gabriela, 5, headed to the lake to test their new inflatable toys.

“They just got them today, so they had to try them out,” she said.

Nina Abeyta, of Lynnwood, decided to do a “picnic lunch at the beach” with her two daughters, Renee, 3, and Trina, 1.

“The sand is nice here,” Abeyta said. “It’s good that the warm weather came in slowly.”

Nolie and Dan Durham, who live in Lake Stevens, planned to eat lunch at a restaurant nearby, but ditched the plans so they could walk their dog Jazz, a black Lab-collie mix, in the park.

“It’s a waste to miss this day,” Dan Durham said.

The couple have more plans to enjoy the weather over the rest of the summer with camping trips all over Western Washington.

“We were certainly overdue,” Nolie Durham said.
