The snow is nearly all melted, but this question came in from Susie Balasa of Everett, who wonders why sidewalks remained crusted with snow and ice last week. In part, she writes:
“After a week-long snow storm like we just had, whose job is it to clean off the sidewalks? After having the kids home for four snow days, and the car trapped in the driveway, one might want to get out and walk. You would think it would be safer to do so, right? But when we get to the main street, all the sidewalks are still covered in snow and ice.”
I checked with the city. The answer: It is the adjacent property owner’s responsibility.
