Witnesses sought for fatal Index car-pedestrian accident

INDEX — Detectives want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed a fatal car accident Saturday night in Index.

An unknown vehicle struck a man and his dog who were walking along Index-Galena Road about 11 p.m., Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

The man and the dog both died from their injuries.

The man was identified Tuesday as Stacey Lain Broyles, 47, of Index.

The crash happened near the road’s intersection with Fifth Street, near where the Index Arts Festival was taking place.

The victims were found by a passerby who called 911, Ireton said. The passerby did not witness the collision.

Anyone with information that could help identify the driver or the vehicle is asked to call 425-388-3845.
