Woman, 73, dies after struck by vehicle in Edmonds

EDMONDS — A 73-year-old woman died Tuesday when she was struck by an SUV while crossing a downtown Edmonds street.

She was walking east across 4th Avenue N at Bell Street when she was hit, police said.

The driver, 36, was turning left when the accident occurred. She immediately stopped and called 911.

The pedestrian, an Edmonds woman, died by the time police arrived two minutes later.

There is no indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor, Sgt. Mark Marsh said.

The investigation is continuing, he said.
