INDEX — A Puyallup woman was carried off the rugged trail to Lake Serene on Sunday after she injured her leg.
The woman, 49, rolled her ankle, possibly causing a fracture. Another hiker saw her in distress and called 911 at about 8 p.m., said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s search-and-rescue unit and volunteers joined Fire District 26 in working to pack the woman down the trail to safety and medical treatment. The operation took about about six hours, Ireton said.
