MALTBY — A King County sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries in a crash blamed on a wrong-way driver early Saturday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 12:50 a.m. on Highway 522 near Woodinville and the Snohomish-King county line.
The deputy had been heading east, in the correct lanes of travel, when he swerved to avoid a driver heading toward him on the divided highway, a Washington State Patrol accident summary says. The deputy hit a Jersey barrier and rolled over his Ford Crown Victoria patrol car, which came to rest on its top.
The 40-year-old deputy was taken to Evergreen Healthcare in Kirkland. His injuries were not serious, State Patrol trooper Mark Francis said.
Authorities were unable to find the wrong-way driver and did not provide a description of the car.
