Wrong-way head-on crash kills 2 drivers in Spokane

SPOKANE — Authorities say a man driving the wrong way on a state highway has crashed head-on into a second vehicle in southeastern Washington state, killing both drivers.

The Washington State Patrol said the crash happened late Friday on Route 395 about 25 miles south of Ritzville.

Authorities say 24-year-old Justin R. Kelly, of Newman Lake, was traveling southbound in a northbound lane when his pickup smashed into a car driven by 27-year-old Matthew D. Wade, of Stanfield. Both drivers had been wearing their seat belts.

It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs was involved in the crash. Authorities are investigating.
