All lanes of northbound I-5 will close Wednesday morning when crews work to right a crane that rolled over near Southcenter Mall about 7 a.m., causing a miles-long backup.
Both Washington State Patrol and the state’s Department of Transportation are urging people to avoid the area and use alternate routes, as it will take “extended” time to right the crane due to its size.
“Expect lengthy delays through the area,” said Trooper Rick Johnson on his Twitter account.
Johnson said that due to the size of the crane, it will require full lane closures for at least a half hour.
The closure is expected to begin at 9 a.m.
