In response to the Dec. 14 letter to the editor, “Trump presidency best shot at strong economy,” I find it interesting that the writer spends so little time explaining why he thinks that Trump’s policies will work and how much ink he expends complaining about the folks who disagree. Perhaps he has forgotten how poorly Reagan’s economic plan worked or that “Make America Great Again” was stolen from the same. The writer endorses the Trump tax bill (gift to the rich) and regales the potential death of Obamacare (wishful thinking). He concludes by gleefully stating that the “lefties may mourn the loss of their budding Socialist/Marxist state” but the fact is that the letter was written before the real handwriting on the wall happened in Alabama last week.
To the shrinking base of Trump supporters I would suggest they hold their tongues at least until the midterms next year and the general election two years beyond. I predict that progressives will reset the stage for rational governance.
