Anchors aweigh

Studded tummies? If tattoos and conventional piercings aren’t eye-catching enough, new piercings, called microdermal anchors, are showing up as an option at local tattoo shops. Different from through-and-through piercings, the anchors allow for mostly permanent studs to be placed nearly anywhere on the body.

The one drawback that we don’t think most of the hipster crowd has considered: The state Department of Transportation requires that all studs be removed every spring before April 1.

Whoa, Canada: Herald sports reporter John Boyle has seen Vancouver from both sides now. He was there in 2010 when Canadians celebrated Olympic gold in hockey. And he was there Wednesday night to witness the rioting that followed the Vancouver Canucks loss to the Boston Bruins in game 7 of the Stanley Cup series. Boyle says he felt saddened by what he saw.

Our advice: Don’t fight over a parking spot at the mall if the other car has B.C. plates.

Reconfirmed bachelor: With his wedding to a 24-year-old woman called off, Hugh Hefner, 85, ordered stickers that read “Runaway Bride in this issue” to be affixed to covers of an already-printed issue of Playboy, which featured a photo of his scantily clad ex-fiance.

Hef’s losing his touch. He’s actually covering up the women on his magazine covers.
