‘Apodments’ still on the table

A concerted effort on the part of the mayor of Snohomish and others to delay efforts to make necessary changes in the “Conditional Use” code in order that unofficial increases in density may slip in to the benefit of developers, and to the detriment of our historic neighborhoods, has allowed the return of Eastside developer Christopher Koh’s request for a conditional use permit for the property at 402 Avenue E.

Given the events of the past year, in which the residents of Snohomish have been forced to battle the city over development issues and unscrupulous and/or negligent city practices (mitigation fee debacle) on multiple occasions, I am writing to express my vote of no-confidence in Mayor Guzak as a leader of city government.

For over one year residents have repeatedly asked for a moratorium on issuing of conditional use permits until the appropriate safeguards and language could be put in place, but our requests are repeatedly denied. If this continues one might begin to wonder what the rewards are for those city officials who continue to delay and deny.
