We’ve finally gotten to the point where we can venture out and walk into a local establishment that we’ve enjoyed for years after waiting for many months to do so. We see familiar faces and recognize workers and we are ready and willing to enjoy something off the menu as we always have.
One thing I’ve noticed is, yes, staffing is minimal and they are busy taking orders but these orders are not in the restaurant. They are scrambling to take care of “to go” delivery food couriers like Grubhub, Doordash and many others. Things have changed and this restaurant is now committed to these critical orders like never before.
We’d like to think our order is coming soon but it’s not, we now sit longer than before and we also pay more than before. From a cellphone a few clicks and this local restaurant us now running as fast as they can to get their orders out to the delivery services and we sit just a little while longer. I’m happy to go out and support our few local restaurants but it’s clearly not the same and it never will be.
If you notice that things are slow and you are waiting awhile I can tell you what’s causing it. Take a look and you’ll see.
