Buffaloed

Political animals: Western lawmakers have introduced legislation in the U.S. Senate to put the Plains bison on par with the bald eagle by naming the bison the “national mammal.”

At the same time, with Congress unable to move forward with legislation on tax cuts, student loans or anything of consequence, it has passed a bill to name a “Congressional mammal”: Dr. Dolittle’s pushmi-pullyu.

Get your tickets now: Construction of the Everett School District’s new two-story $17 million administration building is expected to start next month at Broadway and 41st Street SE.

Included in the project is a new board room for the school board with seating for 108 people. Noting the contentious and — on one occasion — physical confrontations involving board members, one change order that might be considered would be the addition of a jousting arena.

Safety first. And second. And third: Owners of electric vehicles are discovering another money-saving perk beyond passing by gas stations: They’re getting cheaper premiums for auto insurance because insurers view them as “a pretty careful bunch.”

Of course it helps to dress the part when you go shopping for insurance. Be sure to wear a pocket protector, flat-soled shoes without laces and a bicycle helmet.
