Corporate rights don’t trump ours

Recently the political right has been throwing a tantrum over having businesses owned by churches being “forced” to go against their beliefs to provide birth control to their workers. What I find most interesting about letters like the one titled “Stand up for religious freedom” in the paper recently is that the right is blatantly saying that they think a person’s rights end at work and your bosses’ rights take over.

The right is telling us that you have no rights if your employer “feels” they do not agree with you.

I have read the Constitution many times and I have missed the part that says corporate rights trump personal rights. When a church goes into business they lose their religious standing; they are just another business at that point.

Yes, this argument is about religious freedom — ours, not our employer’s.
