Please add me to what I imagine by now is an enormous list of people objecting to the Trump proposed budget. He is cutting funds for what I believe to be the primary means to eliminate conflict: access to basic health care, food, and shelter here and around the world. He wants to use those funds to increase the military budget, all under the guise of increasing America’s security.
Entire countries become vulnerable to famine. When people are hungry and insecure, the potential for conflict increases. The potential for conflict militarily will not change with an increased military budget. After all, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, our 2015 military budget was $597 billion, more than four times as much as the next highest country, China, at $146 billion, and nine times as much as Russia, at $67 billion.
Let’s all raise our voices in opposition to this senseless and reckless budget proposal.
