Declare Reardon’s resignation now

It’s time for the Snohomish County Council to step up to the plate and tell Aaron Reardon that he has announced his impending retirement, and therefore is now ineffective in governing, and that the council accepts his retirement effective immediately. And tell him to clean out his desk and don’t come back, so the county government can move forward with the process of selecting a new county executive without input or interference by a man whose usefulness no longer exists.
