One of your letter writers was quoting from the Bible to support his position against “trickle down theory.”
First of all, taxing the rich more and more has not ever proven to reduce poverty. Second, the Bible is not talking to the government in any of those passages — giving them permission to tax people more.
Those scriptures are meant for Christians and the Christian churches. I agree with those scriptures. I also agree with the scriptures that talk about personal responsibility, and realize that many people need help to get to the point of being personally responsible for their own lives. This is one example of how “trickle down” does work for the poor.
If a business is not taxed too high, they just might be able to expand their business and open up new job positions. The very people the left is trying to “help” by giving them more money the government took from the “rich,” just might be able to get that new job instead of taking the money from taxpayers.
Please don’t use Bible scriptures to support the government taxing people more, but do use Bible scriptures to help someone get up on their feet.
