As a former elementary school counselor in a school district with a high percentage of immigrants, I know the Dreamers well. The majority of them are hard-working children who want to be successful in America. I had a first-grader tell me, in English, that she was learning two new languages, English and Spanish. Her native language was indigenous Quatemalan. She knew what that meant for her future. In first grade.
I can tell you many more stories of how these children worked hard and were successful in school.
They became contributing members in our community.
Many of them choose to continue their education, despite the road blocks we put in place to make that happen.
Do you know that there are 8,000 teachers in the United States who are Dreamers? We can not afford to loose them. Please look at the real issues here. This is their home; they have earned the right to stay.
