I was honored to serve on the Envision Everett 2037 committee and learned so much about not only how our city works, but about its amazing potential for the future. The committee was composed of a diverse list of community members.
As a Hispanic-American I was honored to contribute what I know about the community I serve. I work as a para-educator at Garfield Elementary and have been active in Washington Family Engagement of Washington both which have greatly increased my passion for helping families. I am a Parent Leader Graduate and work with many Hispanic families to help them adapt to American culture and be successful in our community.
When Jeff Moore heard from his wife about my passion to help others, he met with me and asked me why my community doesn’t get engaged. He truly listened and then said that the city needs to hear my experiences. He asked me to help create a new vision for our city that embraces our world community through Envision Everett. If it wasn’t for Jeff, I wouldn’t have even known about this opportunity. It has been a pleasure to get to know Jeff over the past year and I believe we need more leaders like him to guide our city.
