Food for thought

BTW, “natural mold inhibitor” looks great on a resume: Kraft is the latest foodmaker to announce a recipe change; it’s removing the artificial preservative sorbic acid from its wrapped cheese singles and replacing it with a “natural mold inhibitor.”

Kraft Single fans shouldn’t be concerned, however; the bright orange rubbery squares of cheese still will be useful for patching holes in inflatable boats and as tiny semaphore flags.

Frisky foods: A new book suggests that a number of plants, including asparagus and celery, can have a stimulating effect on your libido. A sniff of lavender can increase blood flow, for example.

But if that were true, wouldn’t our spam folders be crammed with email offers for low-cost lavender, celery soft tabs and asparagus without a prescription?

We’re going to need more wasabi: Two California chefs have pleaded guilty to serving meat from an endangered sei whale as whale sushi at a now-closed restaurant named Hump.

Judging by the restaurant name, we would have expected the menu to have a California camel roll.
